The history of Symprove
In the 1990s it became very apparent there was a need for a totally different bacteria formula which could withstand the volatile pH conditions of the gastrointestinal tract. Symprove Ltd was established in 2002 following the launch of an extensive R&D programme. The R&D function continues to be the lifeblood of the company.
Following extensive research, a range of independent testing, as well as meeting the challenges of all the regulatory bodies, the company started selling Symprove in autumn 2008.
Symprove Ltd has now grown and its Board of Directors include some eminent physicians, industry experts and business leaders, providing a wealth of experience and knowledge.
The company continues to be research driven and is constantly striving to prove efficacy across different indications.
Looking after super-sensitive bacteria is a challenge for any organisation or scientist. At Symprove, we know how important it is to help our 4 species of naturally occurring live and active bacteria, every step of the way.
As living organisms, they are sensitive, and do not like being subjected to extremes, so everything we do throughout the production process has their best interests at heart. And like anything 'living', our bacteria enjoy good food too.
The Symprove Unique Delivery System (UDS™) is a proprietary technology and patents are pending worldwide.
A unique process for a unique product
Our purpose-built Symprove next generation production facility in Farnham uses the latest production processes to produce very high purity bacteria cultures. Symprove bacteria are naturally occurring and grown on extract of germinated barley (the substrate). A unique food source for the bacteria, the substrate helping them to flourish and grow.
We manage all aspects of the production process, from the moment our specially selected barley arrives, to the moment we despatch the finished product to you. Producing high purity bacteria cultures is an exacting science and a discipline we take very seriously. Unlike some other producers, we always use exactly the same strains of bacteria.
Every batch of Symprove is analysed by an independent laboratory, to ensure that the correct bacteria formula is met with about 10 billion live activated colony forming units per 50ml serving. The product has been rigorously tested and analysed including: ELISA R5 antibody testing for gluten, resulting in readings of less than 7ppm - well below CODEX and FSA guidelines.
Safety, efficacy, and the delivery of viable live bacteria to the gut in optimum condition, is at the heart of our business and a responsibility we have to our customers. Symprove's Unique Delivery System (UDS™) enables this to happen.
