*Symprove doesn't contain any added sodium as an active ingredient. However, a small amount of sodium is present because of a few of our processes and ingredients. Preservatives aren’t all bad, and we only use one: potassium sorbate. Commonly found in a wide range of foods and beverages, it is used to inhibit moulds and yeasts without harming beneficial probiotic cultures. Making it the perfect addition to ensure our powerful liquid solution remains safe, effective, and unspoiled - without compromising the brilliance of our live and active friendly bacteria.
Symprove doesn't contain any added sodium as an active ingredient. However, a small amount of sodium is naturally generated from a few of the ingredients used to create our powerful liquid solution – including the germinated barley and the trisodium citrate.
This natural sodium content amounts to just 0.077g (77mg) per each 70ml daily dose of Symprove (or 0.11g/100g). While these levels are generally suitable for those required to follow a low-sodium diet, we would always advise consulting with your GP or healthcare professional should you have any concerns prior to starting.
Gluten

It's always helpful to support your gut during or after antibiotic treatment. While antibiotics are important for managing infections, they may also reduce the ‘beneficial’ bacteria in the gut at the same time.
We recommend that you take Symprove at a different time to your antibiotics if possible – remember that ideally you should take Symprove a minimum of 10 minutes before eating or drinking to allow it to pass through the stomach to successfully arrive, survive and thrive in the gut.
This is a common question we receive at Symprove, and the answer depends on the regime you follow. Symprove does contains calories, 10 per serving, and for many that follow a strict no calorie fast this would mean Symprove would break the fast.
The good news is that Symprove can be taken at any time of the day, which means for anyone fasting the perfect time to take Symprove as at the end of the fast. You will naturally have an empty stomach, and once you take taken your daily shot you only must wait a minimum of 10 minutes before food and/or drink.
Each 70ml shot of Symprove contains 2.5g of carbohydrate. As with any carbohydrate, this will cause a small rise in blood glucose, which will then reduce back down to normal levels. For context, as a general rule, 10g of carbohydrate with raise blood glucose levels by 2-3mmol/l. How you choose to manage your sugar levels is unique to you – but please seek the advice of your GP or healthcare professional if you have any concerns about the suitability of Symprove for your daily routine.
Although the consensus among medical professionals is that probiotics are safe for most people, you may need to exercise caution when your immune system is weakened. It is always best to consult with your healthcare provider before considering Symprove or any other probiotic supplement.
Symprove is a liquid supplement, containing live bacteria, designed to support gut health. In most cases, probiotics like Symprove are considered safe to take alongside medications.
Generally, probiotics are not thought to interact with medications but always check with your healthcare provider if you're uncertain.
Good news, Symprove is FODMAP-friendly. Our powerful liquid solution supports live, water-based bacteria without the need to include any high-FODMAP ingredients.
While this makes Symprove ideal for people following a low FODMAP diet
– as with any supplement – individual responses can vary. So please check with
a healthcare professional if you are unsure.
