10 Questions with... Jazmin Sawyers, Olympic Long Jumper

Hi Jazmin, tell us about you and your work…

I’m a long jumper, two time Olympian, keen singer and amateur seamstress! I’m a full-time athlete so that takes up most of my time, but I’m a firm believer that people should be more than one thing, so my hobbies and interests outside of sport are really important to me!

How did you hear about Symprove and how long have you been taking it?

I first heard about Symprove years ago on Instagram, I really wanted to try it at that point, and now that it’s Informed Choice certified (professional athletes can now take it!) I’ve been taking it for about ten weeks!

What motivated you to get involved with Symprove?

I’ve always had some gut issues, and this can sometimes affect my training. It takes the focus away from what I’m working on at the track or in the gym because I’m having some discomfort or worried about what my stomach is going to do next! So the idea that Symprove could support my gut and help me to clear those worries really appealed to me.

What does your morning routine look like?

I wake to an alarm usually, and stumble down the stairs…I’m not a graceful, leaping-out-of-bed-happily type! I grind my coffee beans and start making a coffee, and while that’s brewing I reach into the fridge for my Symprove and pour myself a shot. I drink that, then once my coffee is ready, sit down on the sofa to have a chat with my housemate over our drinks - we both love coffee so often compare beans in the morning! Then I make my breakfast and usually rush around getting ready after that - time management isn’t my strong point! I help myself out by choosing my outfit the night before, I like to wear matching kit to training, small fun things like that make my day better! Then once I’ve packed my bag, I head out of the door ready for a day of training.

Where did your interest in gut health start?

I had started to see articles and posts online about how the gut and the brain are connected. It wasn’t something I’d learned a lot about in my formal education so I was fascinated by how the gut was being described as the ‘second brain’. From there I sought out more information and started making my gut health a priority for my overall health.

Top tips for looking after physical health?

Get more sleep! I often describe sleep as my secret weapon, but it’s not a secret at all. It’s such a simple tool to improve your overall health, but I know it isn’t easy for everyone to find any extra time to sleep, but if you can even figure out a way to get to bed half an hour earlier, try it for a few weeks and see how much better you feel!

And your mental health?

Make (and keep) plans with friends! Again, it seems painfully simple, but even when I’m feeling terrible and really want to cancel, I’m almost always glad when I follow through with plans to spend time with people I love. Connection is what makes us!

Why should people care about Symprove?

Because it really works. The idea for the product was conceived because it worked SO well on animals that the founder thought humans could enjoy the same benefits, it wasn’t something that came from nowhere and a product that’s scientifically backed always gets my thumbs up.

Original, Mango & Passion Fruit or Strawberry & Raspberry?

Strawberry and Raspberry for me!

Sip, slurp, shot or swig from the bottle?

Shot, but I’m not opposed to a swig from the bottle if I’m in a rush!

Describe Symprove in 3 words…

Tasty, easy, effective!

Thanks Jazmin!
