10 Questions with… Lottie Drynan

Hi Lottie, tell us about you and your work…

A big part of my work actually revolves around gut health, but also just general oversharing to be honest. I started sharing my journey online and along the way found an incredible community of people who had similar stories. I’ve since built my platform, mainly on Instagram, and share everything from “bloat-friendly” outfit ideas to ramblings on mental health, gut health, and now new motherhood. Alongside this I have also created the community “You’ve Gut This” where no conversation is off limit. I have a Facebook page, an Instagram page full of tips and tricks and a dietitian-approved gut health journal. That’s something I’m super excited about getting stuck back into once I’m more settled into new-mum life.

How did you hear about Symprove and how long have you been taking it?

I was first introduced about 6/7 years ago when I heard Symprove’s founder Barry speak at an event. I found the back story so interesting and loved how much passion the team had, for not just the product but for making a tangible difference to people’s lives. I tried the sample bottles I was given in the goody bag, and I’ve been a customer, and now ambassador, pretty much ever since!!

What motivated you to get involved with Symprove?

Pretty much everything about the brand, the team, and the results I feel when I’m taking it! Also the science behind it is seriously cool.

What does your morning routine look like?

Well, I have a 6-month-old baby so most days - chaos! But I find that Symprove actually helps build our routine. The first thing I do when I come downstairs is have a swig from the fridge and as we’ve just started weaning, I then use the next chunk of time to suss out what we’re both having for breakfast; usually whilst giving it a dodgy go at singing a nursery rhyme. We then try to get outside even for a lap around the block to help us start the day.

Where did your interest in gut health start?

In my late teens/early twenties I started really struggling with my gut health. I was constantly painfully bloated, nauseous and THE GAS! It took a good few years to get diagnosed but during that time I became absolutely fascinated with the link between the gut and the brain. In the early days I tried every fad and restrictive diet going but once I learned about the impact that stress and anxiety can have, (I’m a HSP with a veteran badge in anxiety) it changed my world. Gut health soon became the centre of so much of my life - from how I dressed, why I exercised and now, even my work.

Top tips for looking after physical health?

For as long as you have the energy and mental capacity; be your own biggest advocate. It’s your body and sometimes you do actually know more, or at least can “see” more than the professionals - don’t give up on getting answers! I’m also a big believer in knowledge being power. The more we can understand about ourselves and our bodies, the better we can look after ourselves. So, any sort of journey or tracker (minus the calorie type!) is my vibe.

And your mental health?

Make it a priority. Find as many resources and safe places as you can/need - whether that’s therapy, talking openly to a friend, journalling, dancing in your pants, medication. Asking for help does not = failure.

Why should people care about Symprove?

Because Symprove care about making a difference. Not just selling products, but improving people’s lives. When I sat in a room listening to a presentation around the science and research that goes on behind it I was truly blown away.

Original, Mango and Passion Fruit or Strawberry and Raspberry?

I’m going to have to be unfaithful to my long-term Original and say Strawberry and Raspberry! So good.

Sip, slurp, shot or swig from the bottle?

Much to my husband’s disgust, who shares the bottles with me, I’m a swigger.

Describe Symprove in 3 words…

Sexy gut-healthy goodness (kinda four but I’m rolling with it)

Thanks Lottie
